Abstract
This study aims to reveal the effect of temperature on dyeing of silk material with sappan wood extract (Caesalpinia Sappan L) using alum mordant including 1) color name (hue), 2) the difference of bright and dark color (value), 3) the difference of color equalization, and 4) the effect of temperature resulting from dyeing of silk material with sappan wood extract using alum mordant at temperature of 40⁰C – 50⁰C and 60⁰C – 70⁰C.Research methods of the data used are primary data obtained from the experiment of dyeing of silk material with sappan wood extract using alum mordant. The object is a silk fabric dyed with sappan wood extract at a temperature of 40⁰C – 50⁰C and a temperature of 60⁰C – 70⁰C. The data of this research is obtained by spreading the questionnaire based on rating scale. This research procedure is through several stages: 1) preparation stage, 2) implementation stage, 3) completion stage and 4) assessment stage. Data analysis technique is performed with the help of SPSS version 12.0. The experimental results explain that dyeing of silk material with sappan wood extract (Caesalpinia Sappan L) using alum mordant at 40⁰C – 50⁰C results in a brick red color, whereas at 60⁰C – 70⁰C it results in dark red color. The result of analysis data of the bright and dark color (value) shows that tcount >ttable (5,870 > 1,753) means that there is a significant difference to bright and dark color (value) and tcount >ttable (1,000 < 1,753) means that there is no significant difference to the color equalization due to the effect of temperature on dyeing of silk material with sappan wood extract (Caesalpinia Sappan L) using alum mordant.
